Hot and seductive

This is a very good author. Third book in this series and I'm hooked.

The only thing that I thought she could have written longer was the capturing of the bad guys. One of her men tell them that he's going back to New york to help out and the next night he's home with none of the action, hardly any of the action written into the story.

Other than that, I loved it. Hot guys as always, hot sex and a lot of trust coming into play. Another HEA.

But the majority of these books are written either in a stodgy, encyclopedic (read: Boring!) format, or they are written for children. Well, now I have one that is actually written for adults, as well as in an easy to read manner. Written mainly from a genealogical stance, the author, Eugene Aubrey Stratton, did his "putting flesh on the bones" research; that is, he sought out how the pilgrims lived their daily lives in all aspects of their time and place. Instead of the cartoonish figures we all see come November, Mr. Stratton actually gives an authentic look to these early Americans. He makes the reader feel that they now know the pilgrims, not only through their historical prominence in our early history, but by name, and we feel their hardships, especially of their first winter here. After the first time reading this book, I re-read it, only this time I read the 'Biographical Sketches' section, located toward the back of the book, first, THEN I went to the beginning. My advice to the first time reader is to do the same. You will then know who you are reading about as names are mentioned.
This book is, simply put, the best of its kind. Maybe more genealogists should write our history books! At least they bring history to life!

An excellent history of the Plymouth settlers.

In doing research on my own ancestor who was a passanger on the Mayflower and one of the original Pilgrims, I have used over 50 books. This one is by far the best. Very readable, this book provides an excellent narative of many of the events of the first 70 years at Plymouth, and detailed descriptions of many of the Pilgrims. For anyone interested in this era, this book is a must.

My husband & I are both descended from The Mayflower - He from William Brewster & Stephen Hopkins and I from William Bradford. This book has added so much information for our Genealogy. I cannot tell you how many times I have used it to add information to our family history file. It has many years of use.

Great Romance!

Graham McNeil lost his mate and son a long time ago and has become a gruff, intimidating pack leader. He's closed himself off from the thought of loving another mate that is until Misty wraps her all too human hands around his heart.

Misty is a sweet human who has fallen for a shifter with a lot of baggage and who his people expect to mate with one of his own kind. She is a florist which for some reason makes her seem all that more innocent to me.

Jennifer Ashley has done it again with a great story and characters that you really want to love. I've been a fan of this series since the beginning and when Graham first came into the picture I was hoping he would find someone to love. He's emotionally scarred with a gruff exterior but you can tell he's a very noble man and underneath that intimidating persona he puts out there to keep people from getting too close, is a very lovable man who needs a mate to complete him.

Graham doesn't really know where he fits in since coming to live in this shifter community where Eric is the leader. He was the leader in his own community but they all had to move to a new shifter town and he's no longer the big boss although his pack members who followed him there do still see him as the boss and their leader.

Graham has been dating Misty but has kept his distance emotionally, that is until he gets a troubling call from her and she is kidnapped. He is a beside himself with worry for her and we know he's going to save her but there are some Fae problems along the way. Fae magic and shifters don't go well together at all and this throws a few twists into this story that I really liked.

The sexual tension is massive for the first half of this book because although our sweet little human wants to have her way with Graham, he has put the brakes on so he doesn't go too far with her. But he can only hold out for so long before the sexual attraction between them pushes him past his breaking point and he has to have her.

While there are secondary character storylines going on in this story, they don't take anything away from Graham and Misty's story at all. In fact I love that about this series because we get to meet so many characters in shifter town and get to know them and hope that some time down the line they get their own book. Some of the best secondary characters in this book are the two cubs that Graham ends up looking after. Not only are they young kids but shifter kids, hence the being called 'cubs'. They get into trouble, eat, make a mess, get into more trouble, eat some more and just seem adorable.

If you're a fan of this series you'll love this book. If you're new to the series I suggest starting with the first book and reading your way through the series in order to really understand all of the characters but you can still read this as a stand alone book and enjoy it.

Great humour, sexy shifters and outstanding writing

I don’t typically dive into a series at the sixth installment, but when Jennifer Ashley’s WILD WOLF landed on my doorstep I couldn’t resist the call of her werewolves. Fortunately for me, this book stands well enough on its own and the writing drew me in to the point of needing to go back, and start the SHIFTERS UNBOUND journey from the beginning. The mythology is well thought out, and is paired with red-hot love scenes and extremely likable characters. Ashley just went from being a new-to-me-author to a must read!

The world-building and lore are the two main elements that caught my interest early on, and are also the primary reasons why I plan on picking-up book 1. I’m sure that there’s way more to the SU universe than what I was able to gleam from only one installment, but the tidbits I did learn made me fall head-over-heels in love with this series. Ashley’s werewolves have been exiled to reservation-type living conditions called Shiftertowns, are forced to wear anti-aggression collars, and are just overall unwelcome among humans. There’s also a variety of different shifter breeds and even subgroups of wolves which made learning about them all a lot of fun.

I was surprised by the author’s approach to the romantic aspect of this story; Graham and Misty have been dating for 8 months, but have yet to have sex, which is practically unheard of in novels that feature mate bonds. And, the two main characters don’t actually get-it-on until quite a ways into the book, but in the interim there’s no shortage of “substitute” options, and these turn-out to be equally as satisfying. I liked that even though she’s human, Misty is far from weak; in fact, she saves McNeil’s alpha-ass not once, but twice! They make a great couple and I thoroughly enjoyed reading their story.

The secondary characters were phenomenal as well; some of the mated pairs have obviously been featured in previous installments, and after meeting them in WILD WOLF, I’m anxious to read their tales. There’s a nice mix of supernaturals in the SU world, and I enjoyed learning about Ashley’s Fae and gnomes (yes GNOMES!). I loved Matt & Kyle—the adorable werewolf cubs—and Reid, Ben, Dougal and Eric were awesome personalities too. It’s clear that this series has a lot of offer; my only regret is not having discovered it sooner!

WILD WOLF is a fantastic book whether you’re a long-time Jennifer Ashley fan or a newcomer like me. Great humour, sexy shifters and outstanding writing—everything a reader needs for hours of enjoyment.

Great start for a new author

Just finished "The Journey to Atlantis," by Bryan Miranda.

When I read books by first time authors, I expect weak characters, poor pacing, and numerous story discrepancies, and I'm glad to say this was not the case.

The story is about a group of kids that get shipwrecked on an island and how they survive. The island isn't all it seems to be, with a lot of mysterious guests and creatures that I anticipate will be more fully explained in future installments of the series. The author does a great job of just giving enough to whet the imagination while not giving too much away.

Max is a great leading character, and while I felt the group to be a tad too large (kill some of them off, man!), the author was still able to give each character a unique voice and characterization, staying away from too many stereotypes and generalizations.

While there are some editorial mistakes, and a few times where the author just summarizes a scene quickly to end a chapter or section (both normal first time author mistakes), the overall flow of the tale is fantastic and the story leaves the reader wanting more. I fully recommend checking this book out!

Good for light reading.

I enjoyed a lot of parts of this book, but also couldn't get into some parts. Overall it was a nice, quick read.
Likes: Character's personalities and conflict/resolutions flow really well. I liked the vivid descriptions in the dreams.
I like the size of the group, but do they all have to be paired up??

Dislikes: I know there is something mysterious going on with the island, but why are there bananas, apples, and oranges all growing in the same area??

I'd like to see more focus and details on the surroundings and how they interact with nature. Also, how the kids got the knowledge to do things like make a fire and process an animal for cooking and it's skin for a pelt, and the daily struggle for food/water, clothing, and shelter.

Looking forward to the second installment.

I'd give it five hundred stars if that was an option

I first discovered this book on my parent's bookshelf when i was six or seven years old. Bored with sesame street picture books, i read it. I felt rather violated by it at first because many of the poems were impossible for me to comprehend and seemed rather nonsensical to me at the time. Yet I was intrigued. This untraditional book challenged me in a way no robert frost or ogden nash book ever did. Convinced that there was some deeper meaning that I wasn't picking up on, I read the book many times over . The more I read these poems the more i understood them and they began to take on definite shape and character. They began to make A LOT of sense. This book may be a difficult read for a seven year old, but i grew to love it then and i havent stopped loving it since. Now ten years later, at seventeen, let me tell you this is a phenomonal book. I've read a lot of books over the past decade but none of them compare to this one. These poems are so beautiful, so unique, so powerful that they will haunt you for an entire lifetime...Richard brautigan was a genius.

Fantastic!

I love Brautigan. This poetry collection is the best I've read of his. There's something about his poetry that distills everything down to a simple unique thought and gives it the attention it deserves. While his prose is beautiful (and poetic) as well, I like his poetry better for it's amazing simplicity and depth. If you've never read a Brautigan, start here, then go to TROUT FISHING IN AMERICA.

Richard Brautigan Makes Love to Words

I found this book on my father's shelf when I was about thirteen and just beginning to be interested in poetry. Opening it at random, the first three poems I flipped to still sum up today the way I feel about Brautigan: the imagery of "Late Starting Dawn" made me fall in love with poetry, the ideology of "Shellfish" made me fall in love with creation, and the verbiage of "It Was Your Idea to Go to Bed with Her" made me fall in love with the English language. Though his poetry is simply constructed, that simplicity is the perfect format for his beautiful understanding of and attraction to words. Richard Brautigan puts human life, from the intellectual pursuits to sexual endeavors, into such physical proximity with the reader that one is left with the feeling of looking someone in the eyes and understanding them for the first time. His passion for the aesthetics of words and life is astoundingly apparent. These poems will make you want to live your life beautifully, and help you see that you already do.

Now we finally learn the entire horrible tale, the deep, secret connection between Harriett and Higgins, and why it is so important for Harriett to see that each Beckham Bride marry the right man.

Harriett's new marriage to Max is totally different from her horrible first marriage. As Harriett settles in and becomes comfortable with Max, Max is becoming more uncomfortable with Higgins and his strange connection with Harriett. Before there can be problems within her new marriage over this strong connection, Harriett and Higgins decide to tell the awful tale of how a woman of means and her butler could have such a close tie. The story is a difficult one. Once Harriett and Higgins tell their secrets, a new business begins to take shape for Harriett and Higgins.

Harriett, always having something to do while running a very busy mail order bride service, is falling deeper in love with Max, but is finding a life of leisure difficult. What is Harriett to do with two overprotective men in her life....one a loving husband and the other a loving father figure? Now that she has shared her difficult past with Max, his sister and brother-in-law, Harriett realizes, when she meets another battered woman in the local mercantile, what she must do; especially when she has married into a family with eight precocious and exuberant nieces, all beautifully named for particular flowers.

Harriett purchases a home in the area for battered wives, and after a surprising development for Higgins, Harriett's oldest niece, Rose, who is the same naive, sixteen year old Harriett was when she first married, wants to marry quickly. In a lumber town, where men outnumber women three to one, Harriett realizes she must begin to investigate the men who will soon be courting her nieces. So now an even more intersting and fun series is about to begin with "Suitors of Seattle!"

This reviewer must admit that it is sad to see the Beckham Brides series end, but with Harriett's exciting new life with Max and finally her own children, the opening of a battered wives shelter, plus her busiest new project to-date, arranging successful marriages for eight flowery nieces, Harriett's life, as well as the Beckham Brides fans, has just gotten even more interesting! I highly recommend this series. I can hardly wait for more excitement with all of the interesting characters, old and new, introduced to us in this book as well as the upcoming eight books in the new series!

This is a series of books that need read in proper order I think 5 in total and the first one if I remember right is free ( Mail Order Mayhem ) ,they are really awesome books .They are hard to put down.They are very affordable what more can I say get them read them in order and you will be in for some great reads.
