Loyalty, lies, and murder conspire to push Silas and Emmie together or rip them apart. Cloaked in secrets and unsure whom to trust, Emmie must decide to drown in darkness or find a way to Shine On.

When it comes to characters, I always want a "good" villain. By that I mean a well written villain that I do not have to feel guilty about my dislike of the character. "Mr. Thomas" is a perfect villain. - Jed's View The characters are so relatable and I found myself quickly invested. I love the balance of romance and mystery that surrounds Emmie's story. Allison Jewell lives in Southern Kentucky with her husband, two sons, and dog. When she isn't hard at work on her next novel, she can be found doing one of her favorite things: watching her older son chase the puck at the local hockey rink, hanging out at home listening to records with her husband, or making up silly songs with her younger son. Allison was an elementary school teacher and education consultant before becoming a writer.

Addictive

I read this book in record time. From the. Very beginning I was hooked, and had to follow the characters through this journey. I can't remember the last book read that had me reading it when it wasn't even convienent to do so. I caught myself thinking these characters were real. Even after I finished Shine On I felt so encompassed in their lives I completlyI forgot this book was fiction. The only bad thing about this book, is that it ended... What a relief there is another on the way!!

From start to finish I was hooked into Emmie's journey! This is well written and the historical backdrop added to an amazing plot. It was a page turner as the plot thickened and I could not stop reading!! It left me wanting to know more about Emmie and Silas. Characters are so richly developed and the detail to the 20's and moonshine in Kentucky was wonderful! I was thrilled to see there will be a sequel!! I just don't know if I can wait until then!

It's taken me two weeks to write this review because I couldn't put into words how wonderful it is. I bought the book and started reading it at bedtime. I stayed up all night reading because I just. couldn't. put. it. down. Amazing character development? Check. Comedy? Check. That sleazy character that you just can't stand? He's there! I cannot wait for Rise & Shine and to continue reading about Emmie, Silas, and all their friends. This is definitely a must read!!
