About the Author
Robert N. Buck set a New York to Los Angeles speed record at the age of 16. A retired senior TWA jet captain, Buck flew the Atlantic more than 2,000 times. As a civilian, he headed a four-year bad-weather research project for the Air Force, which won him an Air Medal.
Robert O. Buck is a retired commercial airline pilot. With more than 16,000 hours of flight time, he has served as a Captain for Delta airlines, a First Officer for Allegheny Commuter airline, and the Technical Editor of Business and Commercial Aviation Magazine. Buck began soloing gliders at age 15 and power aircraft at 16.

Must read

I've been flying 40+ years from Cessna's & Boeing's to fighter jets. I was fortunate to come across Weather Flying when I started flying and I have remembered the message ever since - always respect weather. The 5th edition is a great review whilst ensuring I get the most out of the new tools available for weather analysis. I hope all aviators gain as much as I have from Weather Flying.

If you read only one book on flying this is the one you need to read....

This book has probably single handedly saved more lives and made more pilots safer than any other I have read. You WILL end up flying in weather some day in your flying career of some sort. You need to have the skills to be able to deal with it intelligently. The information in this book is from an amazing polit who in the days before all the technology learned how to survive and thrive flying weather. His knowledge is priceless for all pilots, as our craft is learned in a lifetime, but mastered only on the backs of the giants who came before us. This is one of those giants.

Once you learn to fly you have committed - even if you didn't realize it at the time - to learn how weather works and how you can fly it safely.
This book is worth its weight in diamonds.
Key principles: Don't trust the forecasts and always have an out. It only seems simple once the Bucks tell you how.
